- 1 chicken of 3 kg (6.6 lb)
- Some thyme
- 1 pinch of powdered chile pepper (optional)
- 2 spoonfuls of peanut oil

Tomato-ginger sauce
- 1 onion (or 4 shallots)
- 1 garlic clove
- 10 spoonfuls of peanut oil
- 2 small tomatoes
- 1 piece of ginger (size of the thumb)

. Gut and wash the chicken carefully, then dry it and cut it. Fry it in a saucepan with some peanut oil. Put it aside.
Prepare the tomato-ginger sauce.
. Wash, cut and grind onion and garlic together. Wash the tomatoes, cut them and grind them separately.
. Remove the peel of ginger (scrape it with the cutting edge of a sharp knife). Wash it, grate it and put it aside.
. In a saucepan, heat the oil and pour the ground onion and garlic, stir and then add the ground tomatoes after a few minutes, then ginger after a few minutes again. Add salt to taste and some water if necessary. Throw the chicken in this sauce and let them simmer for 15 minutes over a slow gas.
